- Please provide us with details about the type of design, layout and features you do NOT want.
- How many pages will your site consist of? Please provide a description of each page.
- What is your budget?
- Do you currently have a logo or would you like us to design one for you? If you do want us to design a logo for you, please provide us with an idea of the theme the logo should adopt. i.e, business, artistic, modern, minimal, abstract etc.
- How much control would you like to have over the site design? This is an important question. There are many considerations when building a website such as accessibility, usability, search engine optimization, file size optimization, cross-browser compatibility, screen resolution compatibility etc. All of these factors will affect the flexibility of the design. Due to such reasons if you, the client, wish to have a degree of control over the site design you should learn the implications relating to such factors. This can increase the development time and thus increasing the development cost.
- Will you be looking to sell products/services via your site?
- Would you like to provide your users with the opportunity to download files from your site? If so please specifiy.
- With regards to recieving payments through your website, what is your preferred payment method, i.e. credit card, paypal etc?
- Will you require some kind of data management system? You may for example decide you want to store information about your customers in a database, perhaps via an online form. However, if you do this you will inevitably need some way of viewing, searching or processing this information. If you require such features please provide us with as much information as you can about your objectives.
- Will your website include photographs?
- Will you be using your own photos, either taken by yourself, a photographer, or will you use stock photos? Stock photos are photographs, which you can buy on a non-exclusive basis from suppliers over the Internet.
- How many photographs (roughly) do you think you will need for your website?
- Would you like to have an image gallery?
- If so do you have an idea of how you would like the gallery to look and what features you would like to be available, i.e. fades, swipes, carousel etc? (Please give us links to examples or provide a description). - Will the site need updating on a regular basis, i.e. pictures, text etc? If so how often would you anticipate updating the site?
- How will you go about updating, editing and maintaining the site? If you need to update the website on a regular basis, our recommendation would be to use a content management system. A content management system provides a back-end interface for your website allowing you to add/alter text, upload/manage images, add new pages etc.
- Would you like to have an animated banner? Banners are usually situated horizontally at the top of page and helps the page look less static.
- Will you be looking to play/stream audio or video files from your website? If so please provide details.
- Have you already arranged a hosting provider and purchased a domain name? If you do not already have a hosting provider and domain name we would advise that you to contact us before doing so.
- Will you need any forms on your site? A form could be a feedback form, contact form, application form, questionnaire etc. A form may contain drop down boxes, text fields, radio buttons or other componants which the user will select, and then usually a submit button so the form can be sent to you.
- Will you be looking to advertise using google adsense on your site? Adsense allows you to display advertisements that are related to the content of your website and can be used as a way of providing an additional income. However, this may also distract the users from content on your site. Adsense is perhaps more suited to non-commercial websites. For more information see here www.google.com/adsense
- Would you like us to include a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) package with the website? Seach Engine Optimisation is the process of increasing your visability in search engines such as google, msn, yahoo etc.
- Would you like to provide an automatic news feature on your site? Many websites distribute their content as a feed to whoever wants it. You can display this content on your web page. For more information see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss. This technology is called RSS and is useful from the point of Search Engine Optimisation.
- Would you like to have multi-lingual content on your site? This feature will allow users to select which language they would like to view the site in.
